Scorpion Sting

Hi everyone!
I got stung by a scorpion saturday night! While I was sleeping I felt a light tickle on my knee and I brushed it with my hand. Just a second later I felt a sharp pain. When I turned on the light I saw a scorpion like this one IN MY BED! I must admit I was kind of hysterical at first. I mean what does a scorpion have to do in our bed? He should be out there in the yard killing bugs! My husband finally catched "the little fella" in a jar. The skin around the sting site was red for a few days and my knee felt a bit numb. But actually the scorpion sting was only as bad as a bee sting. If you consider that a bee sting usually causes swelling, the scorpion sting was even less dangerous. It just started itching a bit after two days, but not as much as a mosquito bite. Afterall, I'm alright again but I still can't sleep very well. What else is there in our bed at night, that we don't know of? I don't wanna think about it.

Awesome Song of the Week

It's monday again. So, here comes my awesome song of the week for you:
It's "Dani California" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers.
This is their first single from their upcoming album "Stadium Arcadium," which is by the way a double album (double the fun!). I've already pre-ordered it on iTunes and I'm totally psyched about it. Can't wait 'till it's released (May 09, 2006).

Sad

My Mom called to let me know that my grandad died today. I was surprised. He had cancer, but nobody expected to see him pass so fast. It was just yesterday when my parents visited him. He seemed totally normal and today he's dead. Strange... We haven't been very close. I don't know if I should buy an airline ticket to be in Germany for his funeral. Honestly, I don't want to. But if my father (it was is dad) needs me... I'll go. If the ticket is affordable...

Look what I rediscovered in my iPhoto library today. I associate so many happy memories with this shot, which was taken in Berlin, Germany, by the way. Really miss the weather! ;-)

Can't get enough

I just can't get enough of Mexico. On saturday, we went to Juarez in Chihuahua. It was great! Not as beautiful as Tijuana, but you can feel the Mexican spirit in Juarez as well. For example, you barely see anyone on US street, Juarez streets were packed. Although, the photo was shot in Tijuana.

Awesome Song of the Week

This Week's Awesome Song is: Behind the Wheel by Playgroup. This is originally a Depeche Mode song, but the remix is not bad, either.

Bad News!

The news that Depeche Mode won't play in El Paso has just reached me. We had tickets and all and now they just cancel the gig! I am so disappointed! And why? For "scheduling conflicts"! Haha... sure. I can't believe that. Maybe they haven't sold enough tickets. Whatever.
C U on monday. I think I won't find the time to post tomorrow or over the weekend (we're going to Mexico on saturday).
Happy Easter!

Desert Critter

Look, what I found today! Isn't he a precious little fella? Poor thing had been dead already when I found him. But you can't tell from the picture, right?

Tijuana

Hi there,
I just love this shot. I took it in Playas de Tijuana. What you can't see in the picture is that the weather wasn't as pleasant as it seemed. It was pretty cold and windy. Not exactly what you'd expect from a vacation in Mexico. But actually we didn't mind because we are not the kind of people who spend their vacation at the beach. Instead we drove down the Baja to Ensenada and back to Tecate where we crossed the border without problems. I never like borders. I always feel like a criminal. Although, you are treated better if you're blonde and light-skinned like me. Most Mexican citizens (or people who look like it) had to pop their trunks. On the other hand it is totally easy to enter Mexico. You don't have to fill out lengthy forms or answer curious questions. We will definitely visit Mexico again. Mexico is not as bad and dangerous as many people think. Of course, you should always apply a common-sense vigilance and, if you take your car with you, take out an insurance! Mexican traffic is crazy!

Awesome Song of the Week

This week's awesome song is "Temperature" by Sean Paul.
I like it because it sounds like sun, vacation and beach.

I'm Back!

Hello my little friends,

I'm back. You've probably noticed that I've been gone for the last week. Well, we went to Tucson (AZ), San Diego (CA) and the Baja. It was awesome and I had the chance to shoot some nice photos. Like this one of the beach in San Diego on the left.
The donkey on the right (in Tijuana, Mex.) looks funny on first sight, but if you consider that the poor thing (I think her name was Monica. Strange name for a donkey, don't you think?) has to stand in the heat the whole day, it's kinda sad. Tourists can take picture with Monica for a few bucks. I still wonder what poor Monica's "master" was thinking when he painted stripes on her coat. Odd. She looks like a zebra with racing stripes...

Anyways, I'm glad to be back because with all the food we ate on the road... I guess, I gained four pounds. Although, the stuff we ate in Mexico was really yummy. We had cactus salad! Try it, it's really great.

Have a nice day!
