Problems with ants?

Hi there,

I made a groundbreaking discovery today. I've ants in my bathroom! Disgusting! But that is not the groundbreaking discovery. Moreover, I found a way to get rid of those little guys! And the really extraordinary thing is that it does not involve pesticides. Instead of pesticides try this: coffee and baking powder! The ants don't like the smell of ground coffee and the very audacious, who ate the baking powder, "exploded" (at least that's what I read on another site. Well, I have my doubts! Didn't find any mutilated ant corpses.). The results of this treatment were amazing: within 10 minutes half the ants were gone and after just another hour they all had disappeared! I can just recommend it.

Have a great day!

Germans are brainiest?

I found an interesting article on the internet. Prof Lynn's research results are flattering for Germans, but how superfluous this study is! I mean what is its objective? First of all, the concept of "IQ" is heavily debated anyway and secondly, what is the value of Lynn's results other than dividing the peoples of Europe? Well, maybe I shouldn't take this study too serious and just laugh about it, although this is probably not intended. After all it's no big news to me that Germans are smartest after visiting other European countries ;-)
But how brainy are Germans really? To find out, browse through my gallery of particularly brainy Germans: Brainy Germans playing Monopoly.
Brainy German licking windows.
How the hell did this happen? I don't even know that guy.
A group of brainy Germans freezing in icy Stockholm, Sweden.

Sulky, brainy, male German with happy female.

Brainy Germans shouldn't have children.

Friendly, brainy Germans.

Brainy German sucking on an icicle.

I sink zese great examples prove zat Germans are brainy by nature ;-)

Awesome Song of the Week

This week's "Awesome Song of the Week" is rather an "Awesome Podcast of the Week." For all of us who are not yet familiar with podcasting (shame on you! ;-)), may this link be helpful. But back to my favorite: It just has to be Erol Alkan's podcast. It's plain awesomeness! Really! You might think I exaggerate?! So, check it out for yourself on the Trash Club, which is Erol's alternative London club (you're gonna need RealPlayer to play the Trash radio stream) or if you have iTunes download his podcast here.

Have a great week!

Awesome Song of the Week

It's already tuesday. So, I owe you a new Awesome Song of the Week. Luckily, I've just downloaded the new album by the French band Phoenix. I love their optimistic, airy sound and I can just recommend their album "It's never been like that." For a first impression listen to the song "Consolation Prizes."
Have fun!

Let's save the world!

Hello my little monkey-friends,
I discovered something huge today: We, girls, can save the planet! Yes, you've heard right! The answer to all our "waste-management" problems could be the (tata!) MENSTRUAL CUP! Why haven't I heard of it sooner? Bad promo I guess. Actually, it's a great concept but most women could find it a bit disgusting juggling their menstrual blood. Maybe I will get a Diva Cup just to see if it works. The manufacturer promises that it's hygienic, you save money on tampons and you produce less trash. And isn't that something? I will keep you posted.
By the way, my new Apple keyboard arrived today (Can you hear me sing? Oh, happy day.). The new keyboard is even better then the old one. I'm totally fascinated.
Laters.

Awesome Song of the Week

This week's awesome song of the week has to be "Stadium Arcadium" by the Red Hot Chili Peppers (again). The Pepper's new album, which was released today, is just cool. Listen to it if you've liked "Californication."

Goat

Oh no! I've just found out that my Chinese sign is not "Monkey" as I always thought, and was proud of, but it's "Sheep/Goat!" That's a really crappy starsign I think, although it's known to be the most feminine one (that means again: sensitive, weak, lack of self-confidence). So, on the flipside, I am lucky to be a woman-sheep, that makes sense... Actually it explains my whole character. Thank you stars!
Fortunately, there's no zodiac sign for "Bug." Like: "Hello, my name is Andy. I'm a bug!"

Wildfire Update

Speaking of the devil. Today: Wildfire near Soccorro, NM. Ironic, considering that "soccorro" in Spanish means "Help" (please correct me if I'm wrong). Humidity has fallen to 8%! That's nothing! I'm always thirsty.

No picture today... again

Sorry, I still can't post a picture today for my keyboard is still, respectively again, broken. I am really pissed because all my pictures are on my iMac and without a keyboard I just can't upload any.
Tomorrow is "Cinco de Mayo" and we will have some friends over for dinner, I mean "fiesta." That means that there will be no post tomorrow (probably, maybe a margarita-induced one, though).

Short

Today was such a short day. Time has gone by so fast....
I mailed my letter of application to a "maybe-future-employer." I can't wait what will happen.
Other stuff: it is pretty hot. 92°F. Our lawn hasn't been green since last year. Water regulations are up. We can only water once a week but nobody seems to care. Even Lincoln Forest (where we went camping on saturday) had to close for visitors because of the extreme fire danger. There are small wildfires now and than. Up untill now we've been lucky.

Awesome Song of the Week

Awesome Song of the Week: The Reconteurs "Steady, as she goes"
You have to listen to this! I command it! That "White Stripes" - guy worked with them, for them, whatever, but at least you know roughly what to expect.

Proof of Life

Hi Guys,

yes, I'm still alive. Sorry for not posting but I had problems with my internet connection and the cats spilled a full glass of water over the keyboard so I couldn't use it anymore. Today, that is four days after the "tragic" incident, I connect the keyboard again and it works again! Good work Apple! It seems like it just needed some time to dry.

Thanks for waiting. I hope I can post more regularly now.
